I haven't messed with my Zen much at all so I can't guarantee this will work until I test it out today, but I'm able to use the 1697 model controller with my strikepack paddles on Xbox One/Series S and X with no issues as their isn't a firmware update for it since it doesn't have Bluetooth module in it. It would only let me use the Xbox button (which makes sense after I read what all came with that controller firmware update since it the update was also to let you press and hold your Xbox button to not only turn your TV on, but also change the TV input to whichever HDMI port you have your Xbox One plugged into so that these controllers can basically have the same functions as something like an Apple TV / Amazon fire TV remote where you can now control volume and turn on your Xbox /TV/Sound bar speaker etc all at once.
